First off.. I seem to have become addicted to the Diaries 8)
Anyways
One of the big flaws I see Deans detractors point at is this..
Dean's stance on Taxes is impossible.. you can't "raise" taxes on the middle class and have them vote for you..etc etc etc.
What I HOPE Dean says about this.. (I really hope because I for one am of the opinion that it will work)
"People tell me all the time that repealing Bush's tax cuts is political suicide, that I'm shooting myself in the foot, I'm making the bigest political mistake of my life. I look at it this way..
We are running a huge deficit in this country, and its only getting worse, and I know the people out there all over this country know what its like to be in debt at one time or another. What happens when people are in debt? THey balance their budget, they make tough choices, they say to themselves, maybe less going out, less spending money the next time I'm at the mall, lets save more.
Thats what I'm saying for America, lets realize that we have to make some choices, there is nothing wrong with cutting taxes, once your finances are in order, and in fact in Vermont I cut the state income tax twice. And we could afford it why? Because we blanced the budget. Thats all I want to do for America, I want to use the same sense of fiscal responisbilty that every family out there in America who blances the checkbook, and makes those choices on what can I afford, and take that to Washigton. Because I belive, that whats good for American familes, is good for American Goverment."
Thoughts?
I know Dean may never say anything like this, but in my view, it takes the idea that repealing Bush's tax cuts from being a "Hit" on the middle class, to one of "Lets get our fiscal house in order, THEN cut taxes" all wrapped up in praise of American familys who work hard and keep thier financial house in order.
(All spelling errors are my own fault, and quite simply, I fat finger a lot on the ol keyboard.)
